Robyn's Timeline (the next 17 years of my life):
In your 20's....
First travel travel travel!! If you don't have money to do this find meaningless jobs to get enough money together and get out there ( i have an interesting and legal way to get some money together which I will tell you about)! This could mean staying in one place for a time not necessarily bopping all over the place.
Meet lots of great people that you will keep in touch with and never forget your old friends.
Get a real job eventually when you are sick of the instability and go to grad school when you are sick of that job.
In your 30's ....
get your career going in some really fun place (of course my preference is NYCity- maybe for you it is Portland or San Fran) and start meeting that guy (but just have fun doing it)- don't repeat my mistakes always worrying tht you will never meet anyone. Go out a lot but try to save some money to BUY an apartment (another mistake I made)
Have kids AFTER you have done this fun stuff, but not too late ( 37 and 39 years old is too old). Trust me once you have the kids you will never sleep like you used nor will you have the time and energy to do all the things I mentioned (see in your 20's).
Don't ever take yourself too seriously
Always try and do some meaningful volunteer project at some point in your life.
My 5-year plan (as far as I can tell):
-Peace Corps (2 years and some change)
-year off (PDX)
[attend 10 yr high school reunion, where people will probably pass out from being in the presence of the sheer awesomeness that is and will be me]
-Grad School, Int'l Relations (2 years)
-the next big thing
